In London, Nokia announced the new 5310 XpressMusic feature phone. This super-slim S40 candybar handset measures up at 9.9mm thick and weighs a very feathery 70g. Nokia claims that the 5310's battery should provide for up to 18 hours of music playback, which is a good thing since the phone supports microSD cards of to 4GB in capacity (roughly 3000 WMA songs). Like its cousin, the 5300 XpressMusic slider, the 5310 has dedicated music controls located along its left edge. In terms of playback, the 5310 XpressMusic is compatible with both stereo Bluetooth headphones as well as normal 3.5mm jack equipped stereo headphones.
Other features of the 5310 XpressMusic include a 2", 16 million color QVGA (240x320 pixel) display, a built-in FM radio, and IMAP4/POP/SMTP email support. Unlike the new 5610 XpressMusic slider that was unveiled at the same time, the 5310 only supports tri-band GSM/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz) and lacks 3G connectivity at all. Like the 5610, though, the 5310 XpressMusic is compatible with side-loaded music purchased from the newly announced Nokia Music Store.
In the hand, the Nokia 5310 feels extremely solid. Despite its thin design, the device feels durable and the color schemes combined with excellent feeling aluminum sides give the device a classy, yet understated look. The music control keys are also well embossed, making them simple to find when the device is in a pocket or purse, and the location of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the phone helps ensure cables do not get snagged. The screen is also beautifully bright and clear - a trait this device shares with the other handsets launched at Go Play today.

Nokia 6110 Navigator (not to be confused with the older Nokia 6110 model) is meant to be a fully functional stand-alone satnav device right out of the box. It is no wonder its navigation software and hardware are taken to a new level, with Nokia, Route 66 and NAVTEQ contributing alike to its development. On the other hand, the 6110 Navigator is a full-fledged Nokia smartphone armed with the latest user interface version: Symbian S60 3rd edition with Feature Pack 1. Therefore it is hard to tell whether its greatest market share rivals will be smartphones or GPS-enabled mobiles. In any case, they will have a hard time standing their ground to the Navigator.
Key features:- Top notch navigation solution
- Excellent display with great picture quality and great legibility under bright light
- Fast user interface
- Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1
- Decent camera with lens protector
- Good connectivity
Main disadvantages:- Sound quality is not impressive
- Rather thick body
- No Wi-Fi
- Battery life could've been better
- Detailed maps are to be purchased separately
Out of the boxThe box contents of Nokia 6110 Navigator are on the rich side. Along with the phone itself, you will find a wired handsfree, a USB cable and, naturally, a DC charger. Other niceties include two CDs - one with the Route 66 software and add-ons, and the other with the required software for pc synchronization. A manual, a quick start guide and a 512MB microSD memory card are also to be found in the retail package. |

Nokia announced the newest E-series device, the E51 Smartphone, a followup to the entry-level E50 smartphone. The E51 is a phone with a candybar form, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, and an FM Radio. The E51 runs Symbian S60 3rd Edition, with Feature Pack 1 and has dedicated buttons to access your Contacts, Calendar, and Email. An interesting point is that the typical S60 menu key has been changed to a "home" key, with an icon closely resembling the Windows Mobile home key. The E51 features quad-band GSM support, as well as HSDPA on the 850/2100 bands. The E51 supports microSD cards up to 4GB, and has Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR for fast data transmissions. Connectivity options include a mini-USB connector and 2.5mm audio jack. |

Nokia's new 6500 Slide, one of two newly introduced 6500 series feature phones, is a brushed stainless steel clad slider phone that sports a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics. Its stainless steel parts have been coated with a hard protective material to keep the stainless free of scratches, scuffs, and fingerprints. Other core features on this media-centric device include an FM radio, a music player, and a microSD memory card slot that can support the newer 4GB cards that are starting to become available. There is even a forward-facing low resolution camera hidden away in the earpiece on the front of the device that can be used for 3G video calling.
The 6500 Slide is equipped with a unique configuration of dual-band UMTS support on top of its more conventional quad-band GSM/EDGE support. This slider handset supports the normal 2100MHz band used in Europe and much of the rest of the world, as well as one of the two North American UMTS bands: 850MHz. This means that the 6500 Slide should be able to connect to just about any GSM network, and manage 3G UMTS connections in most parts of the world, where available, as well. Other features of note on the 6500 Slide include Bluetooth, a TV output connection, and the ability to record VGA resolution video clips. Like the other two devices released today by Nokia, the 6500 Slide uses the new micro-USB connector for charging, headsets, and data connectivity. |
