Nokia 3555

Today T-Mobile USA announced the immediate availability of the Nokia 3555, a clamshell cell phone that is compatible with T-Mobile's upcoming 3G network, which functions on the 1700MHz and 2100MHz bands. The launch of the network has been delayed a number of times because the U.S. government, which currently occupies the spectrum in question, has been slow in making it available. T-Mobile has informed us that it has started rolling out the infrastructure for its 3G network and that it should be online in markets like New York by the end of the first half of this year.

The 3555, which has a style reminiscent of the 6555, features a 262k TFT internal main display and a blue on black, 98x65 pixel external display. Speaking of things blue, the 3555 also has Bluetooth support for wireless headsets. In terms of multimedia, the 3555 offers up only a lowly VGA resolution camera, but has a built-in music player as well as a microSD card slot that can support cards as large as 4GB in capacity (not included).

Nokia claims that this 94g (3.3oz) cell phone's 1020mAh battery should be good for up to 3.3 hours of talk time or a bit over 11 days of standby time on a full charge.

The Nokia 3555 is now available for $49.99 after rebates from T-Mobile USA.
